Privacy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
Holepunch is a daily puzzle game you play in your browser. It has no accounts and no login. We tried to keep this page in plain language — here is exactly what happens to your data.
Your game progress stays on your device
Everything about how you play — your streak, stats, unlocked practice modes, tokens, chests, and equipped cosmetics — is saved only in your own browser (using localStorage). It never leaves your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data for this site will erase it.
Privacy-friendly analytics
To understand how many people play and whether the game is working, we use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics tool, hosted on servers in the European Union. We have set it up to be as light-touch as possible:
- No cookies. Instead of a tracking cookie, a random, anonymous ID is stored in your browser so we can tell a returning visit from a brand-new one. It contains no personal information and is not shared with other websites.
- No screen recording and no automatic capture of your clicks, typing, or on-screen content.
- We collect only: that a page was viewed, and a small set of gameplay events — starting today's puzzle, finishing it, sharing a result, starting a practice puzzle, opening a chest, and equipping a cosmetic — together with the standard technical details every browser sends with any web request (such as your browser and device type, the site that referred you, and a rough estimate of your region).
- Your IP address may be briefly used to estimate your general location (for example, which country you're in); we do not store it.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or to build a personal profile of you. It is used only, in aggregate, to see how the game is doing.
Do Not Track & opting out
If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we honor it and don't collect analytics for your visit. You can also block analytics with any content blocker — the game works fully either way. Analytics are never required to play.
Children
Holepunch is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
